Fort Mifflin is regarded among the most haunted places in the United States. Among the ghosts purported to inhabit the military base on the Delaware River, which was built before the American Revolution and active until 1950, is the Faceless Man, a Union soldier named William H. Howe and the only person executed at the fort during the Civil War.
