Woman, 18, critically stabbed on South Side, police said

An 18-year-old woman was critically stabbed Monday night by a male who fled the scene in a red sedan in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 8:45 p.m., the woman was inside a vehicle in the 7800 block of South Maryland Avenue when she suffered a stab wound to the leg. The person who stabbed her fled the scene in a red sedan, police said.

The woman was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was listed in critical condition.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
