NORTH PORT, Fla. — Twenty-one-year-old Sierra Lynn survived getting bit by a venomous snake while walking in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on May 19.

Her significant other, Derrick Hunter, said they didn’t think she would survive.

“We didn’t think she was going to be back around on Saturday, the day after, but she’s a warrior and she fought through and absolute miracles happen,” Hunter said.

He said that Lynn remembered seeing the snake. He showed her photos of different kinds, and Lynn eventually pointed out that she believed the snake that bit her was an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake.

Hunter said that although Lynn is awake, she remains in the ICU. The status of whether or not her leg will require amputation is still unknown.

The family has put together a GoFundMe.
