Mayor Karen Bass and state and local officials highlighted $22 million in new state funding for the Sepulveda Basin on Saturday.

The package includes $8 million for the Balboa Sports Center, $4 million for the Hjelte Sports Fields, $6 million for mobility improvements from Lake Balboa across Victory Boulevard, and $2 million each for LAFD fire prevention and vegetation management.

The mayor's office said fires in the basin dropped 43% in the first six months of 2026 and that more than 120 encampments were cleared.
